Seminar by Prof D. Agrawal on Microwave Processing, UNITEN
19 December 2008
Seminar on Microwave Processing was successfully organised by UNITEN, Malaysia. Dawnyx Technology is the co-organiser and the sponsor of this seminar. The seminar was scheduled as below:
Date: Dec 19, 2008 (Friday)
Time: 9:45AM to 11:30AM
Venue: Lecture Theatre BW-G-R28, Ground Floor, College of IT, UNITEN
Title: Microwave Processing of Various Materials & Its Advantages: An Overview
Speaker: Prof Dinesh K. Agrawal
The speaker, Prof Dinesh K. Agrawal is currently the Director of Microwave Processing and Engineering Center at Materials Research Institute of the Pennsylvania State University, where he is now a Senior Scientist and Professor of Materials, Engineering Science & Mechanics. His research interests include: Microwave processing of materials, Synthesis, characterization & fabrication of ceramic materials, Sintering phenomena, Diamond coating technology, Low thermal expansion materials, Sol-gel synthesis, Ceramic oxide superconductors, Chemically bonded ceramics, Sonochemistry, Phase equilibria studies of ceramic oxides, Phosphor chemistry, Novel synthesis methods, Rad-waste management, etc. Please visit to Prof's website: http://www.mri.psu.edu/directory/displayrecord/1009.asp
The application of microwave energy in high-temperature processing for materials is one such new development in the last two decades. And now, it is getting more attention by material researchers. For example, as reported by a lots of papers that microwave sintering of powder metal/ceramic parts reduces processing time from hours to minutes, energy efficiency, eco-friendliness and providing finer microstructures leading to improved mechanical properties, etc.
