The speaker, Prof Dinesh K. Agrawal is currently the Director of Microwave Processing and Engineering Center at Materials Research Institute of the Pennsylvania State University, where he is now a Senior Scientist and Professor of Materials, Engineering Science & Mechanics. The application of microwave energy in high-temperature processing for materials is one such new development in the last two decades. And now, it is getting more attention by material researchers. For example, as reported by a lots of papers that microwave sintering of powder metal/ceramic parts reduces processing time from hours to minutes, energy efficiency, eco-friendliness and providing finer microstructures leading to improved mechanical properties, etc.
